During the summer months, Duke Forest hires several college- and graduate-level students to assist with the maintenance and operation of the Forest. Typical duties include:
- Road and fire trail maintenance
- Forest management projects
- Inventorying and marking timber in preparation for its sale
- Gate and sign improvement
- Boundary line location and marking
- Organizing forest records
- GPS data collection
- GIS data entry
